Q: What's a good memory from REACH or LMTI?
JR: A good memory I have from LMTI is from this past summer. In-person LMTI had been cancelled the year prior due to COVID so I was very excited to finally be in person even if it was only for one day. That day was probably the highlight of my summer. We danced, cheered, learned and came up with some really good ideas for the school year. Even though we only had one day at LMTI we all still brought the LMTI fire and made the best out of the situation.
MC: One of my favorite memories is from my sophomore year as a YAC at LMTI - reading the warm and fuzzies from my fellow YACs, the candlelight ceremony, so many memories :)
Q: Why are you a member of REACH? Why have you pursued a leadership role in REACH and with LMTI?JR: I am a member of REACH because I strongly believe in our mission and love to make our community a better place one step at a time. I have pursued a leadership role in REACH and LMTI because I want to influence others the way that they have influenced me. After my first week at LMTI I knew this was a community I belonged in.
MC: I'm a member of REACH because I feel a commitment to the community, both of my town and the group itself. It has afforded me so many wonderful opportunities and experiences that I never would have had otherwise and I want other people to have those same experiences.
Q: What’s a piece of advice you’d give to your peers from LMTI?
JR: A piece of advice that I would give my peers would be to stay strong and don’t give up. It can be very hard during this COVID time period to promote your club’s message and frustrating but everything will work out! Stay positive and keep that determined mind set.
MC: Always embrace positive change!!!
Q: Jack, what’s your favorite part about being co-president with Madison?JR: My favorite part about being co-president with Madison is how well we work together. Madison and I have been friends since elementary school and reconnected when we went to LMTI freshman year. Madison and I are similar in many ways as she is hardworking and always determined to do what is best for REACH. We communicate very well together and always know how to make each other laugh.
Q: Madison, what's your favorite part about being co-president with Jack?
MC: Jack and I have come up through REACH and LMTI together since the summer of 8th grade. The following year we were the only freshmen on LMTI's Youth Advisory Council together and we've both stayed very involved in the club. Being co-president with Jack feels like everything has come full circle and working with someone I'm already so close with is super fun.
